Anthony's game review: Dragon Ball Xenoverse

Hey everyone, my name is Anthony and welcome to my first game review of 2016.

Have you guys ever heard of Dragon Balls? If you may not now, unless some die-hard fans know about, Dragon Ball is a famous Japanese franchise that was created by the great Akira Toriyama. It has a action, sens of humor and, likable characters and plenty of actions. And also fan-services (Sometimes...). The early Dragon Ball was an interesting to see, even it may or may not for kids, because like i said, some mature moments. But then Dragon Ball Z came in and it was soo damn good to see with a Holy $!#& moments, some funny moments and of course, more actions.

Ever since DBZ was so popular, it became a legacy with merchandises, special appearance of anime or manga, video games and even anime movies. Unless there's Dragon Ball Evolution, which its stupidly movie that what we got. I mean come on, only Japanese know how it works in DB universe!

Anyway, since i was looking for a video game, there's a tons of them that its either interesting, or some that are pretty crappy like Dragon Ball Z Sagas and even Dragon Ball Z with Kinect on XBOX 360. I was searching many of DB gems to think myself "Is there a good Dragon Ball games?". Well there's Dragon Ball Z: Budokai franchise that although they're rather good, but i've never play them. However, there's one game that i bought in PSN store that i really want to give a shot, that is Dragon Ball Xenoverse.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse is a 2015 game that developed by Dimps (The same company who made a biggest (if not) disappointed game of 2016, Street Fighter V with Capcom) and published by Bandai Namco Game. Its an RPG fighting game that was released on February 2015 for PC XBOX 360, One, PS4 and PS3 (that i got, until i get another one, but in PS4) and it was the first Dragon Ball game that it was released on current gen consoles like PS4 and XBOX One.

So can this game holds up for DBZ fans or gamers, or its gonna be a pretty bad one as DBZ Sagas? Lets find out.

Lets talk about the gameplay itself. Like i said, its an RPG fighting game in DB universe. Unlike any games that you play as Goku, Vegeta, Trunks or maybe Krillin? (anyone? Krillin???) You play as a customized character,whether its an OC or you can create yourself in the game. But customization character is not as interesting than WWE 2K games. There's no customized colors that you can make, option of sizes and even some of hairstyles. But you can chose a species for creation, Earthling, Saiyan, Namekian, Majin and Frieza's race. But they have some specials like when Namekian has a lower health, it regain not only health, but with stamina and when Saiyans has lower health, they regain their Ki power. Which its an interesting idea. :)

After customization, you started in hub known as Toki Toki City, there's three section, 1st there's a parallel quests and battle with online or single player. The 2nd is a multiple of shops to buy some outfits, accessories, skills and a few items for regain health, stamina, Ki powers and even healing your character. And the final one that has tournament room for a local battle and Online reception, there's one place that has thing for 7 Dragon Balls (You better find them that its either from quests or some bonus that you fight the other time patroller) and there's a portal to Time Vault, which is a story of the game. You can walk around to meet some NPCs and some Custom characters by players (either you check him/her for fav or look at its account). You can buy something that need to be powerful like outfits that has plus powers and minus powers or even by some skills that you wanted or some that are useless (Depends you felt like or not.) You can jump in the hub, why would like to jump around? I tried to jump over benches or other stuff, but it doesn't work from invisible blocks, so your jump in a hub is pretty useless, its just for a show. You can even chat or do your pose in online if you meet them. Not to mention, there's some characters of Dragon Ball that you familiar appears somewhere that its either a parallel quests or some that are your mentors.

Finally the main event of the game, once you select or keep going through your story, you're ready to fight. The control is depends if its your character doing great or not. For your basic attack, its obviously a weak attack and a strong attack. To do your skills, you have to hold R2 chose your buttons to use your special attack
. You can even hold two triggers of your control that you can use your ultimate attack and some that its called Evasive skill which it uses with stamina. However, your special and ultimate attack are limited on your Ki meter. Your stamina is also limited for your meter like using a teleport behind your opponent, fly faster, getting up quickly and even Evasive skill. I mean, you will probably waste your stamina when you really want to beat a hardest quests, which most AI use their unlimited powers and easily beat you down. Its pretty frustrated to play when i tried some hardest quests. You better have to do grinding in the same quests to leveling up to boost your attributes like health, maximum of Ki and stamina, basic attack (which it use for you weak or strong attack.), Ki Blast super (Which i think it used your Ki damages) and Strike Super (Which i think it used for your special or ultimate attack's damage).

Despite the control is kinda basic, but it might be delayed, like when your opponent attacks you try to block yourself (And yes, you can block in the game, but i think it has a same button as Mortal Kombat), but it doesn't work that you probably think your controller is broken, but no its the delay or even your character doesn't wanna cooperating your defense from a multiple of Ki attacks. but sometimes your opponent will use their grab attack, combo breaker and even teleport behind you. If you wanna play with yourself against your opponents like more than 2, they'll easily gang up on you like a football players jumping at you while holding a ball all alone. The only way that you can defend yourself is to have "evil explosion" or some other ways to break free from your enemies. you really have to use it, but its limited of stamina. Because without them, you will die like 30 seconds. But thankfully if you beat the quests, you can retry it and pick your partners to easily beat the quest to have a higher rank, unless you're lucky to have more than 2. The AI may or may not be work. the NPC partner may or may not be work like being stuck in-front of the wall or even flying around on circle like a drunken dude who uses a jetpack around and around and you know what i mean... ^^; But the NPC enemy are pretty good and other times being overpowered.

For the type of gameplay quests, its either you fight your opponent to drain half its health or even try to hunt them down. But some are my favorite like try to hunt down a number of enemies or even finding seven Dragon Balls to your pod. Its pretty much simple, depending on the difficulties. However, the camera may or may not be good. If you're in lock-on at your enemy, its pretty obvious you have to face-to-face your opponent. However, the camera doesn't let you control it, it can switch to your other opponents. Which its gonna be annoying for whoever you fight anyone.

For the story, the plot takes place in Toki Toki City where everyone work as a Time Patrol, the city was created Supreme Kai of Time. Suddenly the demons come out to manipulate the timeline of DBZ sagas and even GT (only in DLC) to ruin the heroes. So Trunks (who works on Toki Toki City) grant his wish to make you appeared in the game (il explain it later...), its up to you to fix the timeline and fight the demons. I gotta say, the story itself is pretty interesting that you going back and help anyone to beat the bad guys like Raditz, Vegeta, Frieza and few others. Nothing else to say, its an interesting story to say... ^^;

For the game graphics, it looks great, it feels like it is on the anime, but with video game graphics. Speaking of anime, it has an anime cutscenes in the game like Trunks introduced you to meet Surpeme Kai of Time with her pet owl name Tokitoki, although its great, but it also have a sense of humor like in the show. I mean you feel like you're the show to save timeline with Trunks from the future, which it kinda feels like South Park and the Stick of truth. :D

Finally, just to give a fun fact that this isn't the first Dragon Ball online game and customized that we got, the first is Dragon Ball Online for... Well, online PC. Sadly, this game was only played in Asian Area like Taiwan, Hong Kong and South Korea and it was closed on September and October 2013 due to project of Dragon Ball Xenoverse's project.. Not before it brought back with an English translation. For customization, not only DB Online for the first time, the second one is Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi for PS3 and XBOX 360.

Overall, Dragon Ball Xenoverse is an interesting game i've ever played with my PS3. I did beat the story and even some sub-plot that has something about a wormhole and i need a redeem code card to buy a season pass to meet DB GT characters like Pan. However, not matter if its too much for a game mechanic, my game gets slower which i was nervous that its about to crash. Since i completed the story, i have seven more characters that i created, which i showed you in my Blogger. I might gonna by a PS4 version to not only do the same, but also play much better than PS3 version for a game mechanic and make more characters.Its simply fun, but again, its pretty frustrate to play a hard levels that you really want to unlock something.

Il give this game a 8/10. :)

PS: I eventually bought the PS4 version and its much better than PS3. The control of this game is work well, but still, it has a delayed problem for your special or ultimate attack. And im having a trouble of online connection, if its either a server is off or maybe my internet connection isn't work well for a WiFi. As for my daily gaming, i actually beat it and my first character in the game is the opposite gender of me named Annie (Who's Earthling). since i finished the main story, il keep thinking about my next idea of custom characters.

So this ends of my game review, if you guys have your opinion or suggestions, let me know in the comments bellow.

Thanks for reading, and im Anthony, signing out. ;)

Anthony's movie review: Star Wars: The force awakens

*few minutes ago that i walked off the movie theater*

... Wow... What a movie... 0_0

Hey everyone, my name is Anthony and welcome back to movie review.

If you guys are asking about my favorite culture, i am a big fan of Star Wars, like to talk about the characters, the weapons, the vehicles, the planets, the story and a lot more. I remembered the first episode of Star Wars during the Christmas in the late 90's and i though it was awesome. And looking back when i grew up, i can understand why it was a major disappointed (Because of Jar Jar!! XC). And of course, i was about to watch the original trilogy, i have to admit, it was classic that we all know and love back in 1977 to 1983. Then in few years after the prequel trilogy, many fans wanted more Star Wars since few other Sci-fi movies is either ok or running out of ideas. But not until Disney came in to purchased Lucasfilms for a billion dollars to have a plan for making the sequel trilogy. As well with many workers left LucasArts for making a new Star Wars movie. Many people have a mixed opinion, some people like the idea to bring back and some people didn't like because of a billion dollars bet. And finally in 2015, we're watching many of trailers of The force awakens, which they picked up by Guinness World Records. And finally, it came out on December 18th 2015 and everybody going in a movie theater for our anticipation. i went in cinema in 2 days after the release, because my parents have an off day in every Sunday.

So, can this movie make the force's stronger, or is this movie turned into another disappointment since the prequel? Lets find out.

The story
It takes place 30 years after Return of Jedi, however, Luke Skywalker is vanished somewhere. Just then the dark force is back know as "The First Order" they're plan is to taking the galaxy with their planet with a biggest laser canon called "Starkiller Base". Meanwhile, Finn, a former stormtrooper, really wanted to escape along with his missing pilot friend name Poe Dameron, but he was stranded in desert planet called Jakku and meet Rey along with a missing droid name BB-8 for a plan. Just then, they flied with a Millennium Falcon to stranded ship, where they meet Han Solo and Chewbacca for a plan to bring back The Rebel Alliance to stop The first Order. Along with Leia Organa, C-3PO and even Admiral Ackbar (Its a trap!).

I know most people said that the story is similar to The new hope. But its sound like it, but completely different. Even though i kinda miss the old planet, but i think i like the new planets. At first, i though its about searching for Luke Skywalker, but i was wrong, its all about saving the galaxy from the evil force. And the ending, i don't wanna talk about it, because the final act is a total shocker... 0_0
So, im ok for bring back the similar story from the very first Star Wars. ;)

The production
I gotta say, the cinematography looks outstanding with a great work of CG. I mean, it feels like Star Wars in reality a bit. I like the new design of stormtroopers, the backgrounds and the effects of the sounds and the weapon design is great to brought back from the past. Its like a next gen of the original Star Wars development. Plus, i like the new X-wing design and it was called Incom T-70. Here's a fun fact, this new X-wing was originally to be in the original trilogy, but got replaced by the classic X-wing (aka Incom T-65 that we all know and love), so the producer decided to bring the original concept back in 2015. Its also great to see the famous Millennium Falcon back with a new radar after the old one got broke off from the battle of the second Death Star. Finally, the camera angles is pretty good, its like we're flying with a jet fighter with X-wings and Tie-fighters flying and shooting each others, in other words, its like we're flying roller coaster in movie theater, without moving chairs.
The production is freakin awesome to watch in 2015.

The characters
We're all familiar with the original cast, Luke Skywalker is a final jedi of the galaxy, Leia Organa is princess of Rebels, Han Solo is a famous smuggler, Chewbacca is Han's Wookie partner and C-3PO and R2-D2 is a famous droids. But right now, everything was changing after 30 years. Han's is still a smuggler, but looking for his long lost kid. Leia Organa is now working as a General of Rebels, C-3PO is still there without R2, because it was deactivated due to Luke's disappearance. So we got the return of the original cast out of the way, lets talk about the new characters.

First up is Rey (played by a British actress name Daisy Ridley), she's a scavenger of Jakku's small town. I gotta say, Daisy did a great job playing the character. Even though i never heard of her. ^^;

Next up is Finn aka FN-2187 (played by John Boyega), he's known to be a former stormtrooper, because he really want to leave The first order, because he cares about peaceful Galaxy than dark powers. He's yet another interesting character in the movie, despite we don't know about his full name, since he worked as stormtrooper.

Then there's Poe Dameron (played by Oscar Isaac), a skilled X-wing pilot of Rebels Alliance. For me, i find him a pretty cool character. Even though he's a supporting character which he was disappeared after landing crash with Finn on Tie-fighter. Which i though he was shortly killed off, but nope, he's sruvived and rescued by the Rebel's ship. Or maybe he's mysteriously using a teleportation device. ^^;

Finally there's BB-8, when i first saw it, i was like "Who the heck is that?", which it was supposed to be a replacement of R2 (almost). I gotta say, BB-8 looks pretty cool with ball shape droid with a lot of accessories. Plus, it was used as an remote control robot and used it on CG a bit. At least some people who controlled BB-8 did a good effort.

Now lets talk about The First Order's members.

First is Kylo Ren (played by Adam Driver), the main antagonist of the movie. All i gotta say is, wow, he looks pretty damn cool with his outfit and his mask. And before, i was expecting to be a ruthless. Well, he's sorta like that, but no matter how many times it fails, he cause nothing but a frustration to destroy anything with his famous Crossguard saber. And he's also brutally strong with his force like stop the laser beam, stop the body of victims and he even uses mind reading force. At first, i though he's gonna be a man in a machine, but im might be wrong that he's a human. Plus, you can see his face not once, but twice. Why? watch the movie if you wanna know. Anyway, Adam did a great job to play as the main antagonist. Depsite he's not a big fan of wearing his mask for his role... ^^;

Next there's Leader Snoke (played by Andy Serkis, aka Gollum from Lord of the rings), when i saw him, i though he's a huge looking character, but he appeared on hologram. However, he has no more appearance, because all he does is looking how The First Order going. In other words, will see him at next episodes... ^^;

Finally there's Captain Phasma. At first, i though its a man in a cool chrome stormtrooper suit. But i was very wrong, it turned out Phasma was played by Gwendoline Christie. In other words, its a woman in chrome outfit... Oh well... ^^;

The acting in this movie was great, especially with the original cast, its great to be back. ^^

And now for my final opinion of this film.
Overall, Star Wars the force awakens is incredible to watch in the movie theater. Interesting story, great characters and outstanding cinematography. Ever since i watched the final act, i was very shocked from some part, but i won't talk about it more, because of spoilers. Its really nice to bring back a classical Sci-fi. Incredibly awesome movie of 2015.

For my rating, il give it a perfect 10/10. This is the second review with a high rating since Inside-out. Definitely a Must Watch movie.

So this ends of this movie review...  Man, i've been reviewing the movies of 2015, i talked about some good movies and some that are... pretty crappy... ^^;

I will like thank you guys if you enjoy my review of 2015 (depends..), so i can't wait to see some new movies of 2016. So thanks for ready, Merry Christmas and im Anthony, signing out. ;)

Anthony's movie review: The Good Dinosaur

Hey everyone, my name is Anthony and welcome back to my movie review.

Last time, i reviewed Pixar's "Inside-out", which is a greatest film we've ever seen with likable characters, colorful visuals and creative story. But then, something got curious that i've noticed. This is the first time that Pixar released two films in the same year, which i was surprised while reading it.

The Good Dinosaur is a Pixar film came out the same year with Inside-out and it was directed by Peter Sohn (Who's not only direct the film, but also work on the animation, and voice acting like Emile from Ratatouille.) When i saw a trailer, it looked promising that i would like to watch and enjoying dinosaurs.

So, can this film make me friendly with dinosaurs, or is this movie that i'd rather get killed by a meteor?

Lets find out.

The story
It takes place in alternate prehistoric after a meteor missed the Earth, a young Apatosaurus named Arlo lives with his family with his brother and sister. One day, his father Henry brings Arlo far away to show how not to be afraid, however, Henry died from the storm. Just then Arlo encountered a young caveboy with a name Spot to friend to help him to be live without starving a death. So Arlo has to find the way to get back home.
The only way to describe this movie is Pixar's version of "The land before time". Because the story is quiet similar if you never seen before. But unlike The land before time is about a Littlefoot who lost his mother and find the way to survive from Sharptooth, this one is about a young dinosaur and a caveboy to the adventure to find the way to go back home. It may be interesting, but it would've been creative than ripping off. And before you ask, no, i haven't watch The land before time. So, sorry Don Bluth... ^^;

The animation
I gotta say, the animation of this movie is pretty damn good. The background looks beautiful that it feels realistic. Pixar did a great job for a nature background. I mean, i wish il walk around the forest to see a beautiful place. As for the characters design, they look rather ok. Well sure Disney's Dinosaur design looks great for the dinosaur's design that we all know that it was originally to be documentary film, but it was changed for a big money. Here, it was rather dated for a cartoony dinosaur design. Even though the texture of their skin look good, but i wish if Pixar would've make a dinosaur looks good. But the T-Rex gang and the raptors looks great.

The characters
Some characters might be likable to watch, but some that might not be interesting. For Arlo, he's pretty much as like any other films. Which he was born to be very afraid of anything, until he'll learn to be a brave dinosaur and nothing else.

Next up there's a caveboy named Spot. I gotta say, he's easily a likable kid to help Arlo for a survival and he's rather cute. Despite he's a dog behavior. The relationship with Arlo and Spot is quiet interesting and cute to watch. Even though they explained about their loss of family until the end. If you're asking about Spot's family, no, i want talk about it, due to a spoilers. You should watch to find out.

For Arlo's family, they're pretty much as simple and nothing special at all for their appearance of first to final act. As for the other dinosaur, they're might be interesting, but they have a minor appearance with cliches like The T-Rex gang is just a helpful guys for Arlo, the raptors is just a lame comic relief that has nothing to do with the plot. And there's a vicious pterodactyl who's looking for hunting critters (including Spot, which he's not a critter, but a human.). Personally, i find the T-Rex gang are quiet likable to watch, but they're only appear in second act in the film with their fun personality. The characters in the movie might be good, but they would've avoid from the cliches. But Spot is easily a likable one. No wonder why he was picked up as a playable character in Disney Infinity 3.0.

and now for my final opinion of the film.
Overall, this film is averagely above to watch. It have a good animation, the characters are ok and the story is rather done before. I mean yeah, this movie has been done before with dinosaurs, it would been something original to make successful, but it was suffered with cliches and it was slightly better than Disney's Dinosaur. But its not as good than Inside-out, it was rather Pixar's weaker film since Cars 2 and Monsters University. If you love dinosaurs, this is for you. If you're like me, you'll find that this movie is unoriginal. If wanted to looking a good dinosaur movie, watch The land before time if you want.

Of course since this is Pixar film, it has a short film called Sanjay's Super Team, which i have to admit, looks interesting to watch. Its about a boy who dreamed to be a hero to fight against the evil force of Hindu. Which this film was based on a true story. Mostly...

I rate this movie 7.5/10. It may be interesting, but not as greater than Inside-out.

So this ends for my review. If you have your opinion or any suggestions, please send me a comments bellow, because i like to know for your opinion or a request.

*hold a ticket for a next movie* The force is calling me at December 18th...  Anyway, thanks for reading and im Anthony, signing out. ;)

Anthony's movie review: The Peanuts movie

Hey everyone, my name is Anthony and welcome back to my movie review. Have you guys remembered a comic strip called "Peanuts"?

Ah yes, this comic strip was first came out in 1950 in the dailies newspapers and created by the late Charles M. Schulz. It features with a lot of memorable characters, Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Sally, Peppermint Patty, Schroeder and of course, Snoopy and Woodstock. When the comic became popular, it going to make a cartoon special with the Peanuts gang on Television such as "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown". Which they both were nominated from Emmy awards.

I remembered read the books in library when i was like 6 year old. The only comic i remembered is a comic strip with Snoopy and Woodstock. Right before was focused on Garfield when i grew to 9. Oh well, i like them both in my childhood.

However, Charles passed away with his age of 77, the population of Peanuts is tone down after 50 years. But then, i saw a teaser of "The Peanuts movie" and it was done by an animation studio called "Blue Sky". When i saw it, i was anticipated to bring back the nostalgia. And this film came out for a 65th anniversary of the comic strip and the 50th anniversary of "A Charlie Brown Christmas".

So, does this film will make a good tribute for Charles M. Schulz, or is this film make me wanna go "Good grief..."?

Lets find out.

The Story.
After i looked at all kinds of epic stories with fantasies, actions, or superheroes. It was time to go with a quiet and simple story. It tells about a lovable loser, Charlie Brown, going out to hang with his friends in park or in school. Suddenly, he sees a little red-haired girl in his class, he was fall in love and pretty nervous to meet her. So Charlie is gonna find the way to be in good luck to stop being a bad luck to meet up a girl with a help of his pet dog Snoopy. and also a confident help from Lucy (sorta).
I gotta say, the story was simple and quiet interesting. Even though its nice that i take a break of epic story. However, there might be a flaws of this movie. Which there's a subplot involve of Snoopy going on the fight against The Red Baron to save his love-interest pilot name Fifi. It was good one, but does this have to do with the main plot? Nothing. I think its because they're trying to bring back the nostalgia about the dogfight with Snoopy and The Red Baron, but who cares, because its Peanuts.

The animation.
The animation itself looks pretty cool. its colorful and great. blue Sky did a great job for the animation 2D style of the characters, to make similar from the TV special, but with CGI. Plus, it uses a hand-draw animation from a few parts, which its nice to bring them back, but it showed for some part like a seconds. Even though some part used a 3D animation part (including a Dogfight sequence), which i though it would be cool like in the cartoon, but again, it was done in computer graphic images.
Overall, the animation is was great for the 2D style of the characters (Especially they add an extra quality for their design like hairs and fur).

The characters
Im pretty you're always familiar of the characters. Charlie Brown is an unlucky kid, Snoopy is Charlie's pet dog for a help, he's also pilot and Woodstock's best friend, Lucy is a bossy and crabby girl, Linus is Lucy's brother and Charlie's best friend, Schroeder is a piano-player and admirer of Beethoven, Peppermint Patty is a tomboy girl, Marcie is a bookish girl and Patty's best friend, Pig-Pen the dirty kid , Franklin, an African-American kid who's also Charlie's friend and Frieda, a girl who loves her own curly hair. These characters are great and legendary if you ever looked in the comic strip.

There's a little red-haired girl, who's supposed to be Charlie's love-interest. The downside about her is that she has no personality until the end (Btw, it won't tell it, because of spoiler). Btw, is it just me is this girl looks like Peggy Jean?

Finally, there's Fifi, Snoopy's love-interest and also a pilot. though i have to admit, she looks pretty cute for a love-interest of Snoopy. Even though she's the only character who never appear from the book. Its kinda shame, but im ok for her.

Plus, the voice acting of of the kids is great. Those kids did a great job for a the role of the characters. For me, i'd say Noah Schnapp fits very good for Charlie's role. they also use a voice footage of Bill Melendez's role of Snoopy and Woodstock. I guess its because they use an archive voice to dedicated on Bill. Which i think they brought the voice archive to bring back the nostalgia in cartoon specials.

And now for my final opinion of the film.

Overall, The Peanuts movie is great to be back from the childhood with great characters, good work of animation and interesting story. Though it has a flaws with a subplot that has nothing to do with the main story and some characters have a missing personality.

Plus, it has a short film called "Cosmic Scrat-tastrophe", with Scrat in a UFO for some reason. Which apparently, it was a promotion of Ice Age: Collision Course. Even though i remembered the first and two ice age, they're funny and great. But when the later films came out, i felt that its getting old and boring. All i gotta say for the short film: Just skip it, im getting tired of boring jokes... T_T (0/10)

Anyway, this movie will earn 8.5/10. I recommend to watch the movie if you love Peanuts. If you probably never heard of, give a try to watch a movie or maybe read a comic strip.

So this ends of my review, if you guys have a suggestion or your opinion, send a comments bellow that i would like to read.

Thanks for reading and im Anthony, signing out. ;)

Anthony's movie review: Goosebumps movie

Hey everyone, welcome back to my movie review, with my very first Halloween Special. I mean, we love Halloween for a party, cosplay, trick or treating and a lot of fun of scariness. :)

For this Halloween review, im going to take you back from the 90's to show the most famous children book we ever read, that is Goosebumps. Its a horror children book series that was all written by a famous author name R.L. Stine. It became popular with good narrative story, pretty scary and funny to read. I actually read all the books in my school library like "Don't go to sleep!", "How i learned to fly", "Ghost beach", "Welcome to dead house" and few other books that i would like to read. When the books are very popular, there was a TV show based on them. However it has a lack of entertainment with bad effects and bad acting that it has nothing to do in the books. Hell, even Jontron did make fun of them with three episodes.

Anyway, i heard the rumored that there was an upcoming movie based on Goosebumps to be a segments. But today, this one is completely different what we got today.

Goosebumps the movie book is a 2015 horror/comedy film that was directed by Rob Letterman (Who also made a good animated movie Monsters vs Aliens and even an abomination one called "Shark Tale"... XC) and it stares a comedian/musician Jack Black that i was surprised to hear.

So, can this movie holds up to bring back the experience of Goosebumps, or is this movie made me ripping my paper off? Lets find out.

The Story
Like i said before, its not an adaptation of one or more books, the story is completely different and it was pretty original. It tells about a main teenager name Zach Cooper and his mother was moved to Madison, Delaware. When he has a new home, he noticed a new neighbor name Hannah, but she lived with a mysterious author father name Mr. Shivers. Few moments later, he and his awkward friend name Champ breaks in Hannah's home to look around in the house, it turns out the house has a lot of Goosebumps books, which they're all written by R. L. Stine (who's nicknamed as Mr. Shivers). But then, these books are dangerously cursed that they accidentally unlock the books to break free any creatures from the book to make a disaster, leading with a main antagonist named Slappy the dummy who burn all these books to never come back. Its up to Zach and his friends for helping with Stine to find a way to stop the creatures in the long night.

I gotta say, the story is pretty original and creative then the TV show. However there some problem that it has nothing to do with the story like those cops that they're try to arrest or fight the creatures, but they're pretty much useless and douches. And the backstory of R. L. Stine is pretty interesting and kinda creepy about where he created all the creatures in his book it was all cursed. I mean, whats next, Stephen King vs Pennywise the clown the movie? 0_0

The productions
Since the effects of the TV show looks pretty cheap and stupid. In this movie, it was done with CGI with Sony Pictures Animation (The company who made Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs and Hotel Transylvanian). The CG background looks nice with disaster town. Plus the design of the creatures are mix, some that are look good and others that either ugly or even something straight out of video game. And the effects of Slappy looks pretty that i think it was done with animatronic. Or you think it was done with computer.

The characters
I gotta say, the characters seems to be good and some that are annoying or stupid. Despite that it has a cliche of no one cares about the monsters are real that the kid noticed it.

First is Zach Cooper (played by Dylan Minnette), this kid may or may not have a personality which he's an ordinary teenager, but i think Dylan did a nice work of his character. Even though i never heard of Dylan. ^^;

Next up is R. L. Stine, the author of Goosebumps (played by of course, Jack Black), at first, i though he's a bad guy to never let Zach dates with Hannah, but i was wrong. It turns out the he's the author who wrote the books that are cursed. I gotta say, i like R. L. Stine's character, because not only Jack Black, but also tells something how dangerous these books are.

Then there's the main antagonist, Slappy the dummy (also played Jack black), a living dummy in Goosebumps book called "Night of the living dummy" (even though i haven't read the book. ^^;), i gotta say, he's like a Goosebumps version of The Joker, with a similar voice and even plan to taking over the town. so, don't call him a "Dummy", or he's gonna scare the S*** at of you.

Then, we have another kid name Champ (played by Ryan Lee), this kid is not a likable character that i find him awkward and annoying. Despite he's often bullied. I know he's trying to be a comic relief, but i find him doesn't work....

Finally there's Hannah, (played by an Israeli-American actress named Odeya Rush) i gotta say, she's also an interesting girl, but i don't wanna explain about her, because of spoiler.

And don't expect about the cops, they're nothing but douches as i mentioned before.

And now for my final opinion of the film.
Overall, Goosebumps the movie is an interesting movie. Not bad, but interesting with pretty original story, good acting and some ok effects. Even though its a comedy movie, i find that some jokes that i did laugh, but some is not easy. Plus, i was screamed in a cinema from the jumpscare out of nowhere. I mean, i was easily feel nervous from a build-up horror that i think myself "Oh god, the jumpscares is coming... 8C". And don't worry, i was never walk away, i was just sit still in the theater. Plus i watched on the 3D, i was little bit disappointed that i wanted to watch the traditional one, but im ok for it. Despite the 3D effects is just like a cardboard cut-out. Even though it suffered with a mixed bag CG work and some unlikable characters. If you love Goosebumps or Jack Black go watch it. If you don't, i suggest you should find the books, because they're classic and fun for reading.

I give this movie 8/10.
