Anthony's game review: Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2

Hey everyone, my name is Anthony and welcome back to my game review. Yeah, i haven't doing a game review for a long time before the ending of 2016. So im gonna talk about the game that i really wanted to talk about, but i was being lazy.

Last time, i reviewed Dragon Ball Xenoverse, a fighting RPG that was developed by Dimps. Which i loved this game. Although the PS3 version isn't bad, but the PS4 version what i played is much more improve that i played. Even since the game was good, Dimps decided to make their second game that it came out one year later (2016), which i was shocked that they made it like quickly.

So, i pre-ordered this game on PS4 for my anticipation. And before you ask, no, i never played a Beta version, because i prefer waiting for the full release. When i got it, not only i got the game, but i also have Goku's Super Saiyan key chain. Which i was surprised what i earned back in October.

So, with all that said, will this game will be improved from the first one, or is it gonna be a boring version than the first one?

Lets find out.

Like the previous game, you starts to create your new character in the game. Like i created my female saiyan name Gouki, who;'s a daughter of her saiyan father name Anttrox. Once again, some species have some specials, like where Namekians regenerate their health, Saiyan's grows their power while in lower health and few others.
Unlike the first game that the hub is just simple and boring, here is huge and i loved it. The hub was called "Conton City", it was located in the ground (instead of the air from Toki-Toki City), it has some locations like a small city, Goku's old home (Where he was young) and like the previous game, it has parallel quest and various shops. Its pretty amazing how bigger the hub is. And finally, you can ride something, like you start riding with a capsule rider. Later on (After you beat some chapters of the story), you'll able to fly. I always like to flying around to explore everywhere to find something. Speaking of, you can plenty of objects from the ground, which all of them shown in shiny. Whether its gaining your power, foods and few other items that you don't care. Like the previous game, you can find many of DB characters that they're your mentor. The only weird choice of mentor that i noticed was a young Gohan. Like why does Dimps picked up kid Gohan as a mentor, like isn't Adult Gohan was there with Videl? Who cares...   My only thing i don't like is the milk delivery mini-game, where Krilin was standing behind the accessories item's shop that he asks you to delivering milks to any time patrollers. My first problem is that you're too slow to move, because while holding the box of milk, it was too heavy to carrying, like come on, aren't you supposed to running while you're pretty strong? Second, you can do a dash by tapping a button, but for me, its a suicide button, because i pressed it, my character drops the box to breaking the bottle of milk that i have to start over. Which is absolutely unfair that the control is sensitive in the mini-game. So don't trust with milk delivery.

About the gameplay, its pretty much the same as the previous game, it has a same fighting style and the same control. But the control has a small update, like where you hit your opponent away and then you dash toward it to hit away again. Or my personal favorite is where you old down the circle button to shoot a multiple of Ki balls. For the special and ultimate attack is pretty much like before, hold down R2 for special attack (based on Strike for melee or Ki for projectiles.) and holding L2 and R2 at the same time, you do the ultimate attack. You have a block button, but you can also doing a grabbing attack. The attack is depending which species are you playing as, but they're almost have the same fighting style. It could've be great to have a custom fighting style to make this game creative and challenging. Once you complete the story or parallel quest, you get more experience to level up and grow your health points, damage points, Ki points, Strike points and few others. However, like the first game, the only thing i hate to lose is the wasting my stamina, which when i block or doing a flying dash, it easily waste my stamina, i know im playing as Gouki, i guess its because it makes this game more challenging, but for me, its just annoying to wasting and losing the game.

For the story, its a bit the same as the first one, it takes place two years after the first game, where you play as the new time patroller meet The Supreme Kai of Time called you for your starting business. However, Towa and Mira returned for their vengeance to sending three characters from Dragon Ball movies not only Broly, but also Turles and Lord Slug and one mysterious Saiyan (Im pretty sure you know who he is...) to once again, changing any timelines. Its up to you for going back in time to fix everything up. However, there's a new plot where an owl name TokiToki is about to lay an egg for a new universe, which it can creates a new time...?

Although, it has some extra part in our story, like where you save Future Gohan with Trunk or even fighting Frieza's brother name Cooler. Not much else about the story. If you want to know about the ending, im not gona talk about, cause its not only shocking, but its ridiculously hard to beat i've ever played.

As for the parallel quest, i find it pretty disappointing. Aside for new quests, but they borrowed the same quest from the first game, they could've make something new, rather than bring the old quest to the new game. Like is this a sequel, or an expansion pack? Not to mention, ever since you're fighting with any DB characters, they're pretty much using the same lines from before. I mean, talk about a lazy move...

Aside the parallel quest, in the hub, there's a side quest that its either from a parellel quest, a player VS AI or even any wormholes to fight with stronger enemies with you and 7 more time patrollers. Im pretty sure they took the same idea from before, but something new, im ok for that. While the hard wormhole mission is pretty damn tough or other times impossible to beat, because you have like a short time limit. Its better to beat it with online players.

There's also a Training School, where you're trying to do some tricky moves. For me, im not a huge fan of it, it might be pretty hard to try, if you're an DBX expert player for the control.

Lastly, you notice that there's a flying platform in the hub, it turns out it has five of them, there's Hercule Satan's house, the capsule house, Maijin Buu's home, a temple of Namek and Frieza's ship. Each of them based on race where you played. Like where Gouki was teached by Goku and Vegeta to become a Super Saiyan in The capsule house hub. I find it an interesting idea for this game.

And the rest, there's not else to say, it has a same graphic and some musics brought back and also some new songs. Although its nice to be back, but little bit disappointing.

And now for my final opinion of this game.
Overall, Dragon Ball Xenoverse is pretty much the same as before, but with upgrades. With similar story, same gameplay, interesting graphic and some parallel quest is pretty shameful. I really wish if Dimps should make something new than before to make it fun, challenging and something creative for new stuff. So this game feels like an expansion pack. If you like this game, go ahead, try it if you want. If you're like me, it will easily make you feel bored.

So, im gonna rate this game a 7/10.

So this ends of my game review, if you have your opinion or any suggestions, let me know at the comments bellow.

Thanks for reading, and im Anthony, signing out.

Anthony's movie review: The other sister

Warning: The following review contains strong language. Readers discretion advised.

*come back to my house from my school and sits back on my seat in a bad mood.* Oh my god...

Hey, everyone, my name is Anthony and welcome back to my movie review...

Ok, if you wanna know why i am pissed? Its because i saw this movie two time in my school, because before, my teacher showed the movie that it was "Good", i was curious to find out and... good lord, i can't believe what did i just watched... Its horrible... Very, very horrible...

For those you don't know (If im glad you never heard of.), "The other sister" is a 1999 romantic-comedy film that was directed by Garry Marshall, produced by Mario Iscovich and Alexandra Rose and written by Bob Brunner.

Its one of the movie that most people didn't like it a lot for all the reasons and like i said, its one movie that my teacher loved it for her reasons. But for me, i don't.

So how bad can it be?

Lets find out.

The story
It all started where a mildly mentally disabled woman name Carla Tate was succeed a certification from her special school, she sent back to her home for reunite her over-protective mother name Elizabeth. But one in her new school, she meets mental man names Daniel McMann thatr they're become friends. So Carla wants to be in relationship with Danny (As she likes to call him.) to be a family with her new home.

To me, the story itself feels like non-exist, its just a generic romantic movie with two mental disability characters, but to make it funny? No, i don't find it funny, its just awkwardly cringe to watch. Speaking of cringy, there's some part that doesn't make any logic at all that i was frustrated, like in the ceremony, Carla was distracted by any dogs for let them free, it is absolutely embarrassing what she did, like where's the police to tell the parents for the payment of the damage? But since this is the late 90's movie, they decide to "Fuck the logic" and lets make it funny! Oh yeah, the jokes are pretty boring that i'd rather sleep while watching. But i did chuckle for one gag that it kinda works.

The story feels like it was written by 12 year old to have a romantic story with mental characters, its just boring and outright cringy.

The production
There's not special to say, its strange (Or obvious if you looked at the background or not.) that they filmed in three locations of California, Long Beach, San-Francisco and Pasadena. And the soundtrack has some musical numbers, which it has some beautiful song that i'd would like to listen to. And the compose music, its also beautiful.

But sometimes, they even made a scene where Carla and Danny watched a movie called "The graduate" for their demonstration. When i saw this scene, i was like "

There's nothing else to say for the production, so Fuck it.

The characters
Good lord, where do i begins for the characters.

First we have Carla Tate (played by Juliette Lewis, best known in Cape Fear and What's Eating Gilbert Grape), although she looks pretty cute, but good lord, what a awkward personality! I know she's portrayed as an autistic character to help anyone, but she's much as a mental retard girl with an annoying voice that i'd rather put a duct tape on her Goddamn mouth!!!

*take a breath to tone down my anger level.*

Next up is Daniel McMann (played by Giovanni Ribisi), this guy is even worse than Carla, even though Giovanni had some good films which i haven't watch like "Saving Private Ryan" or some others, but his role in the movie... Oh my god... He also has annoying voice, with stuttering. And he also loves fanfare that he wants it in the wedding with Carla (And yes spoiler alert.) and he was also get drunk that he wants his friend's vintage Ford Mustang for all the stupid reason!!

God... I've never seen how disorder this movie that despite i was also born with autism, but this movie made me feel disgrace for the relationship Shitfest!!!  G

And the rest is pretty much boring and not welcoming for good actors, like Elizabeth Tate (played by Diane Keaton) is an over-protective  mother, Radley (played by Tom Skerritt) is a a dentist and recovering alcoholic. Caroline Tate (played by Poppy Montgomery) is a typical cute sister, Heather Tate (played by Sarah Paulson) is a sister with no personality and Jeff Reed (played by Joe Flanigan) is a guy with no personality.

These characters are all not likable with bad acting and annoying... I mean Good Fucking lord that i feel like my ears is bleeding. And since this is a romantic (Which this film might also be a drama), this movie didn't work for giving a sympathy, the only thing to give a sympathy is my life!!!

Overall for my final opinion, this is the worst movie i've ever watch, With non-exist story, unlikable characters and production is more likely a "Meh", I mean this movie should be work for a direct-to-video movie, not a cinematic film with a Shitty acting!!!
It should've been no exist for this disaster movie that it earned 27,8 million dollars of Box office, despite that the movie was developed with 35 million dollars that THIS MOVIE WAS A BOMB!!! Thank God This Movie Deserved IT!!!!!

I give this piece crap 1/10. This is a movie that I DON'T RECCOMEND FOR MY GODDAMN LIFE!!!! FUCK THIS MOVIE, FUCK THE WRITTER AND FUCK THIS DAMNATION OF THE HUMANKIND!!!!!!

*grab my cup of water and throws on the ground for my pure rage*

*meanwhile*

Corporate Driver: *laughing out loud of my humiliation* Oh my gohahad... That was pretty funny... This guy is Fucked from this movie that it came out nearly 20 years... XD

Secretary Driver: Yeah, he deserves it after plenty of "Good films" that he talked about from few months.

Corporate Driver: Yup, lets hope next year, he'll suffer his humiliation again for more bad movies next year. I mean 2016 is like our best year ever, right?

Secretary Driver: Indeed, since Donald Trump is like our heroes to suing everybody for the "criticisms", i mean, these kids are always hypocrites, eh?

Corporate Driver: Yes. So maybe il be the next president of America in the future to make ourselves great again.

*back to my house with my hands on my foreheads for how traumatizing i was*

I really need to take a relax for my bedroom or maybe that i'd watch some good movies in my collection to get my positive back...

If you guys have your opinion of any suggestions, let me know at the comments bellow...

Thanks for reading, and im Anthony, signing out... *get up and going to my room for relaxing*

Anthony's movie review: Rogue One

It begins where Anthony (me) goes into investigation to find the plan of the Death Star. But in one faithful day, after investigating on Tatooine, he was about to fly away, he has a visitor from his tail...

Anthony: Hm? *looks behind a bit, but not before a a green laser show that it missed* Oh no... Its the TIE Fighter. *tries to shuffling left or right to avoid it*

TIE Fighter: *waits for the auto-aim, until shooting him down*

Anthony: Aw crap! I lost it!! *loses his control of his X-Wing to crashing on the ground, he survived, but his leg got injured* Ow... *opens the cockpit and gets out of it, painfully* Augh....  I should've get back in school for a flight test... Hey everyone, my name is Anthony and welcome back to my movie review.

Well, im stranded on Tatooine that i have to wait for call of the ship to bring me back to Earth. Anyway, yes im back in business to review Rogue One, i mean when i first heard of it, i was pretty curious about it. And as you all know, this is the first Star Wars film to have an anthology. And this may be my last movie review of 2016.

So, Rogue one is a 2016 side story of Star Wars that it was directed by Gareth Edwards (Who's best known for reviving Godzilla in 2014), produce by Kathleen Kennedy and two more of them and written by Chris Weitz and Tony Gilroy. As i said before from my "Force Awaken" review, i was waited for episode 8, but i first noticed Rogue One for my curiosity, which they said that it takes place before "The new hope".

So, without further do, will this movie gonna a epic start of anthology, or is it falls flat like the prequel?

Lets find out.

The story
Like i said before, it takes place before "The New Hope", where a girl name Jyn Erso left her family for fifteen years and she's in the prison from the empire, but not before she was rescued by The Rebels that she joined with Cassian Andor, Orson Krennic, Chirrut Îmwe, Bodhi Rook, Baze Malbus and K-2SO. According to The rebels, they claimed that The Galactic Empire built their Death Star to destroy every planets, its up to Jyn and his gang to find the plan to destroy the space station.

Though to be fair,i find it interesting how we want to know how did they found a plan to destroy this big ship for destroying every planets. But i have some problems. First, the development of Death Star is like it was rushed, which i wish it can do that for the final act, but they decided to finish it in the first act. And my second problem is that rather than focusing to find a plan, they chose to finding Jyn's father name Galen Eros for her reason. Its like we're waiting for an hours to going back to our main plot, so the side plot about Jyn's father is just a waste.

Although the story make sense how did they found about the plan, but the movie ended up taking 2 hours for the search of Jyn's father is the main plot than the plan. They could've just change the story development like some group steal the plan to fight back to get the plan return to The Rebels. Talk about a shameful written.

The production
Back in the old days, it was done with the old effects in the late 70's like the model, stop motion, the laser effect and few more old tricks. Since this film came out of December 2016, it was fone with computer. I like some planets that they shown us for the different world. But i find that the planet Jedha is pretty much like Tatooine or Jakku, which is a desert planet, but with a cool village that was on the mountain. I mean, im getting tired of cliche desert planet, make something original.
The one planet that im happy to see it back is Yavin 4, i know it doesn't have a similar battle of Yavin 4 like "The new hope" did, but its nice to see it back.

But my biggest disappointed is the Death Star laser to the planet. In "The new hope", the planet has been blasted and "BOOM!", thats pretty much about it, despite it was kinda cheap to have a quick destruction of planet Alderaan. Here, when the space station blast the planet, it start to destroy the planet slowly, like why is it so slow? Oh, maybe its because they're trying to be realistic from the documentaries about the destruction planet takes a long time to end it. I mean good lord, i'd rather fast-forward the destruction planet scene.

Aside from the planets, they have a cool ships and weapons. But another thing that i was impressed, its the makeup for the characters from the original trilogy like Governor Moff Tarkin, Mon Mothma and few other characters, which they did a makeup to look like they're from the past. Some that look great, and some that it looks kinda cheap. I mean, sure they don't brought the old actors in the prequel like some of them are getting old and some who passed away. I understand why they hired the actors too look like they're from the past, but its more likely and above average idea. Like where in the ending of "Return of the Jedi" had Sebastian Shaw from before, but he was replaced by Hayden Christensen from the special edition, because of "Revenge of the Sith".

Although the production looks beautiful, cool design and great to be back, but some of them has some flaws that it could've great or even taking too slow than doing similar quick destruction.

The characters
We introduce seven new characters in the movie, which they has an above average.

First is Jyn Erso (Played by Felicity Jones), at first, many people felt that she's Rey's mother for "The force awakens", but that rumor is obviously fake for the reason of story. Although Felicity did a nice work of acting, but her portray is rather disappointing, which i wish that she could've get more personality, she's just a girl who misses her father and kinda smart.

However, they're most of characters that they're mixed bag of good and boring. If you asking me which one of them that i do like, it will be Chirrut Îmwe and K-2SO.

Chirrut Imwe (played by a Chinese actor/martial artist Donnie Yen), he's a badass blind martial artist and shooter. Which im pretty sure he has an echolocation ability for a combat, kinda like Daredevil from Marvel. Not to mention, he's also believing about the force. So, i guess his echolaction was his force, perhaps? But he also made me chuckle like when he was captured when the group put a bag on his head, its like "Oy! Im blind already!", that made me laugh for the joke.

And finally there's K-2SO (voiced by Alan Tudyk, aka Candy King from Wreck-it Ralph), i find him pretty fun that has a lot of fun lines, especially the one that i chuckled is the scene where Jyn and his gang setting their guns, except K-2SO. It maybe a bit whiny, but i laughed that part. He's like C-3PO, but he was originally built by The Empire.

Before you ask, yes, they're plenty of old character brought back in Rogue One like i mention before Moff Tarkin and Mon Mothma. But they're few more of them, try to find them, its like an "Easter Egg". But the one character that i was very happy to see him back is Darth Vader, but i don't want to tell where he is for spoilers. But hey, its nice that James Earl Jones reprises as the greatest villain of all time, welcome back, Mr. Jones.

The characters is pretty much as above average, some of them are for who they are and the return, but some is rather boring that they could've be original of personalities.

And now for my final opinion of this film.
Overall, Rogue one is a good movie to watch. With some good story, some interesting production and some good characters. But it suffered with subplot and rushed setting of Death Star, some of the work is either boring or even "Done that before", and some characters are lame that they could've be great. I mean, sure it has some fun action scene, the new planets and cool designs of ships and weapons, but thats just my opinion.
And i am aware that the film didn't do well for the box-office, which it will be a floppy performance, its a shame that this is the first anthology film of Star Wars.
If you like this movie, i recommend to watch it if you want, if not, im pretty sure you'll wait for episode 8.

For my rating, il give it 8/10
It may not be better than The force awakens, but still, its Star Wars.

So this ends of my final movie review(?), if you guys have you opinion or any suggestions, let me know at the comments bellow, thanks for reading and im Anthony, signing out-- *his head phone receives a call from The Rebels*

Rebel's officer: This is Officer Tarok from Rebel Alliance, can you hear me, are you a lone pilot from other planet called "Earth"?

Anthony: Hm, Hello?  This is Anthony and i am a lone pilot from Earth.

Officer Tarok: Sir, are you stuck in the planet to get back to your home?

Anthony: Um, yes, im in Tatooine that i got shot down by one TIE Fighter, and i think im far away from Mos Eisley.

Officer Tarok: Affirmative sir. We'll bring you a drop ship to send you back home nicely.

Anthony: Ok.

Officer Tarok: But we have some bad news, the Death Star that was next to your home planet blasted the moon, causing it to have a meteor shower in various countries.

Anthony: *blocks his phone for his reaction* Aw F*** me...!! *unblocks it* Well crap, i guess my home planet is probably have a thousands of dollars of damages.

Officer Tarok: Affirmative. So stay here where you are.

Anthony: Ok, thank you, Anthony out.

Anyway, thanks for reading and im Anthony, signing out and have a Merry Christmas. (Maybe too early... ^^;)

Anthony's movie review: Moana

Hey everyone, my name is Anthony and welcome back to my movie review.

From a few months ago,i reviewed Disney's Zootopia, which is easily one of the best film i ever watched that i gave it a 10 out of 10. And i was anticipated to see Moana, which is Disney's second time that they release two films in the same year.

Moana is a 2016 film that was directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, produced by Osnat Shurer and written by Jared Bush. When i first heard about Moana, i believe its gonna be another Disney princess movie, but im not sure what i was thinking. And plus, i was surprised that this  movie stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, which it made me even more anticipating.

So, with all that said, will this movie will be a great second film of 2016, or is this film that i'd rather lose a stone of life?

Lets find out.

The story.
It begins from the flashback where a goddess name Te Fiti was emerged from the island, with a heart stone called "Pounamu", the goddess can create life and fight back at monsters. But then, a demigod name Maui who stole a stone for a gift to humanity. Because the stone was taken away, the island turned into darkness and create a lava demon called "Te Ka", Maui was attempted to defeat the demon, but lost the battle, especially losing his magic fishhook, that it made him transforming into various animals. Lomg years later, we introduce our titular character name Moana Waialiki who lives in the island of Motunui, she first saw a stone for her collection along with shells, but her father name Chief Tui tells her to stay away from the water from the danger. When she grew up, she wanted to help the villagers to find fishes from beyond the reef, but her father rejects her from the danger from his past. Later on, she meets her dying grandmother named Tala about the past of the voyage to Te Fiti, she gives her a heart stone and tells her to find Te Fiti for resurrection and also finding Maui until she dies. So its up to Moana has to help with Maui to save the island with heart stone.

Though i gotta say, i find that the story is pretty creative, having a story about a resurrection island with a stone is a cool concept. Not to mention, we know that we starts with a subplot where she has to help Maui to finding a fishhook for his power, since he's a demigod. Which im pretty sure it works for the main plot. But sometimes, there's a subplot where they got attacked by a coconut pirates, like i don't know who they are and why does the pirates has to do with the main plot. As for the gags in the movie, they're like 80%, i always laugh at some jokes and gags, like where Maui tried to stay away from Moana, but he was taken back to the boat by the water.

The story of the film is great along with the main subplot. Even thought there's one subplot was just a waste.

The animation
What can i say, its just a Disney film with beautiful animation. They're always has a positive things about the movie like, it has a cool realistic quality like the water effect and the sky of day and night. The background looks absolutely beautiful, its almost like we're having a vacation island like Hawaii, even though this movie takes place on Polynesia. The character designs of this movie are great since its always a similar style of Glen Keane since Tangled. The animals design is above average, some of them are looking cool and cute and other times some are silly, like the design of a chicken, it looks soo Derpy. As for the animation, its pretty much like previous Disney films, always great. But the best part, its the animation of Maui's tattoo, i was very impressed that rather than the film is completely CGI, it goes into a small part of traditional animation. Well done, Disney.

The animation is always beautiful, despite it has a small flaws.

The characters
This movie is only focus with two main characters, which some characters have small appearance of the first act, which i was expect to have more than two characters.

First we have Moana Waialiki (Voiced by Auli'i Cravalho, which is her acting debut.), i find her pretty beautiful. Aside her design, she's an interesting character, at first, she seems to be a bit clumsy, but at least she has a good respect with Maui for a help. Since this is Auli'i's debut, she did a great work for her very first voice acting role.

Then there's a demigod name Maui (Voiced by the one and only, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.), this guy is easily one of my favorite in the movie. He has a lot of sense humor and he almost like steal the show. However, he has a negative attention that he's portayed as a selfish, arrogant, and buffoon (According to Karlo Mila.). But for me, its just a fiction, like there's no reason to be sensitive for the character based on mythology. Despite some flaws, Dwayne is always steals the show with his great performance in this film, despite he has a problem of pronunciation. So, it doesn't matter what you criticized.

They're few other characters like Moana's family, but the movie has less characters. Its pretty disappointed and unlikely than Zootopia. Its pretty shameful that we have two main characters.

As for the songs, they're like 90%, some of the songs are great like "How Far I'll Go" and "You're welcome". But there's one song that i don't like is "Shiny". Although Jemaine Clement had good signing, but the lyric is the weakest, its all about a shiny crab name Tamatoa about how shiny he is. Talk about egotistic monster...

Before my final opinion, you're wondering about my thoughts of Disney's short film called "Inner working"?  Well, its like what if they made Disney version of Pixar's Inside out, but with organs in the blender. I find it pretty average, although its a cool concept, but the designs is rather cheesy like the main character's head is pretty much a cube some others are also cheesy. Unless you counted some fan-service like some female characters have a big hips.

So Inner Workings is average at best, il give is 6/10.

Anyway, to the final opinion.
Overall, Moana is a another Disney's great work, with creative story, likable characters, good songs and a beautiful animation. But the movie didn't beat Zootopia for the best, because it has some flaws like one song is bad, some animal design is silly and the one small sub plot is just a waste. And good lord, this is another takes almost 2 hours to watch since Doctor Strange. Im getting tired of my painful constipation when i drank a diet Coke.

The movie didn't get a perfect 10, because my rating of this movie is definitely a 9/10. Go watch it if you want, because its recommended.

So this ends of my movie review, if you-- *interrupt myself to look at the window* Hm? Why is the sky is gray? *going outside to looking at the sky, it was a Death Star* Oh my god...  The Galactic Empire are back, with Death Star...!   Well, i gotta review Rogue One next week.

If you guys have your opinion or any suggestions, let me know at the comments bellow.

Now if you excuse me, i gotta find an X-wing, thanks for reading, and im Anthony, signing out.

Anthony's movie review: Doctor Strange

Hey everyone, my name is Anthony and welcome back to my movie review. Yup, im back to do a film release review like its been two months of hiatus, So i finally came back to the theater to watched another Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This time, im going to talking a film with Doctor Strange. Its a 2016 movie that was written and directed by Scott Derrickson and produced by Kevin Feige. The strange fact about this movie that it was originally developed somewhere in the 1980's, but it had been one hell of a development that it was originally to be with Paramount Pictures, but it was later changed to Marvel Studios  and even plenty of re-writing.

Just to give a fact, is that at first, i was curious about Doctor Strange, but my father was a huged fan of him back in the 70's since he loves comic along with Superman and Spider-man. So after decades of my curiosity, i managed to watch this movie to find out who Doctor Strange is all about.

So with all that said, will this movie will be a good standalone film, or is it rather overshadowed by Civil War?

Lets find out.

The story
It begins in Kathmandu, Nepal, where a main antagonist name Kaecilius who ripped off the page that belongs to "Ancient One" that he take control his power known as "Mirror dimension", in other words, he used to be with her, but he betrayed her to get the page for his plan. Meanwhile, we introduced Stephen Strange, who's a neurosurgeon got a car crash that causing an injuries of his hands's vain, cause his hands nearly uncontrollable that he really wants his hands healed. He travels to Nepal to find a place called Kamar-Taj. But not before he meets Karl Mordo to bring him there that Strange meets Ancient One. But rather asking a favor of healing, she chooses to demonstrating about Astral projection and Mirror Dimension. As a result, he was shockingly impressed he want to teaching to have powers, despite of arrogance. Once Stephen did have magical powers like magic shield, some magic whip, opening portal and even astral projection, he also have  Cloak of Levitation, which it can give him a flying ability and torturing bad guys and an amulet called Eye of Agamotto, which it can control time from reverse and time loop. So its up Stephen as "Doctor Strange" to save the world from Kaecilius's plan (Where his mission is to opening the other realm known as Dark Dimension to summoning an evil lord name Dormammu).

I gotta say, its an interesting story, even that its like any typical stories about the bad guys attempt to open the evil world to taking over the Earth. But this one is much more interesting and creative. But my problem of this movie is that in the first act, it was kinda rushed for Stephen Strange's development, like he's a neurosurgeon who had a car crash and kinda broke up his ex-girlfriend name Christine Palmer and...   thats it, whats the point for a rushing first act?

Aside from a bad first act, the story is rather good to watch.

The production.
Unlike any Marvel films the their productions that are impressive, but this one, its one of the most over the top production i've ever seen, i know this film has a great productions with astral projection and mirror dimension, but good lord, the projection is plain illusion. I guess it explained why this film was developed with 165 million dollars. They did a great job. But the issue of the production is the scene where Ancient One demonstrates Stephen with astral projection, this scene is absolutely insane of roller coaster, like its almost like "Inception" in sugar rush. It was curious and a bit crazy when watched this scene, i mean i know its an Astral projection, but jeez, calm down, movie. Not to mention, this is another film takes about two hours. Well, its almost take about two hours, but it was specifically about one hour in fifty-five minutes, but i did survive myself from constipation to watching the final act. I mean i was nearly going to throw up, but don't worry, im ok.

Although it was a bit insane and too long (A bit), the production looks impressive to watch.

The characters
If you ever read the comic, you probably known them. If haven't heard of them like myself, il explain to them and give my opinion.

First is our main star of the movie, Doctor Stephen Strange (played by Benedict Cumberbatch), i find him a fascinating character in the movie, which at first i though he's not gonna be good, but later, he's growing into a cool character. Even though he's a bit arrogant and his personality feels a bit like Iron Man or Antman because he was joking with a culture reference, which it was a bit weak like its getting a bit old for a culture reference of personalities. But he did made me chuckle for his joke. Despite that, Benedict did a nice work for his main role.

Next is Strange's sidekick name Karl Mordo (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor), he's an interesting sidekick in the movie, well, not only a sidekick, but also a mentor of Strange. Plus, i like his ability that he can jumping or walking to an invisible platform by himself. He also have a staff called "Living Tribunal" and he has flexible power. Strangely, in the comic, he was a bad guy of Doctor Strange. Its kinda like Kaa from "The Jungle Book" where he's a good guy in the book, but he was changed into a bad guy in the Disney films. Aside his role of the character, he's an interesting sidekick and Chiwetel did a nice work.

Then there's Ancient One (played by Tilda Swinton), she's a main mentor in the movie that she possesses illusion (aka Mirror Dimension and Astral projection) and she looks pretty cool. Like Mordo, she has a strange changing from the comic, which in the comic, the Ancient One is supposed to be a male, but the role was change based on the stereotypes. Its a bizarre and kinda sexist choice for the character's gender, but i digress.

The final good guys is Wong (played by Benedict Wong), who's Strange's another sidekick in the movie. He's a master of Mystic Arts and a protector of Kamar-Taj's valuable items. Like the Ancient One, he was completely different in the comic, where he's portray as a stereotypical Asian with martial arts and a servant. So he was changed as a teacher and a librarian. I guess its because they're to avoid a controversies of racism.

and finally there's the main antagonist Kaecilius (played by Mads Mikkelsen), he's a traitor of Kamar-Taj that he wants his power of illusion to taking over the world, which they said he's rather similar to Saruman and Sauron from The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. Even though i never see three LOTR's trilogy, but im ok for that. Not to mention, he has a cool looking makeup of his eyes, which they said it takes about tow to three hours, i like his makeup in the movie. Despite similar character of J.R.R. Tolkien's characters, he's pretty cool and Mads did an interesting role.

There a few other characters in the movie like Christine Palmer (played Rachel McAdams), who's a love interest of Doctor Strange Dormammu (played by Benedict Cumberbatch) who's a lord of Dark Dimension, but i won't tell about him, because of spoilers. And yes, Stan Lee will always making his cameo appearance, try to find him while watching a movie.

Despite of changing portrayal of racism, the characters are rather interesting to watch and im mostly enjoy of Doctor Strange's role.

And now for my final opinion of the film.
Overall, Doctor Strange is strangely a good movie, with interesting story, fascination production and good characters. Even though im fine for changing portrayal to avoid offensive race, but it has some flaws like a rushed development of the first act, over the top scene of Stephen in astral plane scene and pretty long film with a near two hours.

If you like this movie, go ahead, watch it if you want. If not, you'll probably find that the film is a bit weak.

So, i rate this 8/10.

So this ends of my movie review, if you have your opinion or any suggestions, let me know at the comments bellow.

Anthony's movie review: Space Jam

... Man, i haven't doing a movie, since i took a hiatus for like, one in a half month after my Sausage Party review. I guess im in a mood to review some past films...  Hmm... I wonder what film that i pick when i was a young teenager or something...  Well, i guess il pick one that i remembered that is a cult favorite. Even though today is Canadian Thanksgiving. But...  Meh, why not.

Hey everyone, my name is Anthony and welcome back to Movie review. Well, its been a months that i took a hiatus for my decision of films that come out this year. But i felt like to going back in time to review some films that we love, some are my personal fav that we love, some that is underrated and some that are guilty pleasure. So today's movie review, im talking about one film that was a cult favorite for my childhood, and for the basketball.

Space Jam is a 1996 live-action/animated film that was directed Joe Pytka, produced by Ivan Reitman, Joe Medjuck and Daniel Goldberg, and written by
Leo Benvenuti and three mores of them. This film is a big deal to have a crossover film with Looney Tunes and Basketball with the legendary player Michael Jordan. Not only himself, but also other players appeared in the film with five basketball players.

When the movie came out, it received a bellow average movie, saying that it was a good concept, but not as interesting for our fav stars. Despite the critics, it was picked from the Academy Award in 1997. Pretty ironic for picking a film to considering it as a Guilty Pleasure.

so, with all said, will this movie holds to this day four our favorite cartoon, or is it overshadowed by "Looney Tunes back in action"? (Yeah, il get to that later after the review to do my small thought.)

Lets find out.

The story
It begins in the 80's where Michael Jordan came in with Chicago Bulls and became a star of NBA history. Until he announced his retirement to join in Baseball in 1993. Meanwhile, an intergalactic amusement park planet called "Moron Mountain" owned by Mr. Swackhammer, who wants to taking over the entertainment, mainly Looney Tunes, he sends his minions called "The Nerdlucks" deal them by playing basketball. And of course, The Nerdlucks secretly going to the real world to stealing five players talent, which resulting a scandal for their low performance. Once they steal their talent, they turn themselves into a big beast known as "The Monstars". Because of that, our star of Looney Tunes, Bugs Bunny have a plan to find a hero of basketball, that is Michael Jordan by sucking him into a hole while playing Golf. So its up to Michael and his Looney pals to save the world from The Monstars's challenge.

Though i have to admit, it was pretty creative concept of the story. Even though its an alternate storyline of Michael Jordan, which im ok for that, despite that im not a "Die-Hard" fan of Basketball games, which im more into Hockey, Football, Tennis, Soccer, wrestling and even racing cars like Formula 1. (Just saying.) Not to mention, the movie has a subplot with five players in embarrassment for their low-level of their talent, which i don't know why it shows them for minutes. Well it didn't happen until the end. Since this is a Looney Tunes film, there's a gags in the film. And it was above average, some that i did laugh and some that its more likely "Meh". But other times, it gets a bit immature for the gag. Though the story was interesting, but some that has a lackluster.

The production
This movie was developed with 80 million dollars of budget and have to admit, it looks great, since its a live-action/animation. Its pretty obvious that it was done with green/blue screen when Michael Jordan, Wayne Knight and Bill Murray (Spoiler!) are in the Looney Tunes world. The animation is... Well, what do you expect that this is Warner Bros films with Looney Tunes. Even though it was done with high quality for the character design, which im ok for that. The background looks amazing that its almost like a painting background of cartoon. Sometimes it can be cheaply bad, like the scene where Stan turned turned into a balloon in awkward CGI. Not much else to say, the production looks nice, but sometimes it might be bad for the gimmick.

The characters
Now most of characters are always have fun. Even though there's some that i don't like.

First is Michael Jordan himself, yeah i know that lotta people didn't like him in the movie, because he's not a professional actor, i understand, because its no wonder how we love Michael Jordan. I mean its pretty obvious that in the movie, Michael Jordan is being....   Well, Michael Jordan. Even though he did a nice work, but as professional as i said before. And hey, at least he's not as bad than...   Shaquille O'Neal...!!

Nest is Stan Podolak, played by Wayne Knight (aka Dennis Nedry from Jurassic Park), this guy is easily the weakest of the movie. He's portray as man who not only like a fan, but also publicist to keep an eye on Jordan. He's pretty much useless and being a pushover in the film. But hey, at least he's not as annoying as Al from Toy Story 2.

Now most actors are playing as fictional character, but in the film, they play themselves like Bill Murray (aka Peter Venkman from Ghostbusters), Larry Bird, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Shawn Bradley, Larry Johnson and Muggsy Bogues. It may sounds good on concept, but if only there's a fictional players who got lost the sports skills.

And finally is the cartoon characters. If you've seen Looney Tunes, you're all familiar with those classic characters, Bugs Bunny is a mischievous trickster, Daffy Duck is a raging rival, Tweety Bird is fun little bird, Elmer Fudd is the hunter, Porky is a clumsy pig, Sylvester is an hungry bird as a cat, Tasmanian Devil is one scary killing machine, Wile E Coyote is failing hunter, Road Runner is the fastest one and whole lot more in the list.

But in this movie, they introduced a new character to have a love interest, that is Lola Bunny (Voiced by Kath Soucie), she's a skilled of basketball and she's one cute dol-- I mean bunny. Well yes, i know there's a subplot that she is going to be in relationship with Bugs, even though it was short. And she's rather underrated. I personally like her early look, unlike her later one in "The Looney Tunes show" that not only her voice doesn't fit (Mainly Kristen Wiig), but her personality is just generically as a girl who always, always have crush on bugs. So, sorry, i prefer her old appearance.

As for the villains, well, they're pretty cool and damn creepy.

The Monstars (aka The Nredlucks), these guys looks pretty badass and creepy. Not to mention, some of them are funny that i laugh, especially the blue one name "Blanko". In fact, they could make show about them. I wonder if they'll come back for their cartoon basketball show.

As for the main villain Mr. Swackhammer? He's rather ok. He's much as an evil boss wants to taking over the world like Looney Tunes, because of his failing amusement park planet. Although his design looks creepy, but remind me some other evil cartoon boss.

The characters in the movie are some that are likable to watch, but others isn't worth to enjoy.

And now for my final opinion of this film.
Overall, Space Jam is the film is probably a big fat guilty pleasure for the fans like me. The story is interesting, the production looks good, the animation is great, the acting is rather good, the writing is also interesting and the characters are more than above average. Even though some people seemed to hate this movie (Including Nostalgia Critic), because of a bad random concept or even lack of acting of real life stars. But many people like me love this, because of creative crossover of live-action/animation and fun characters. But come on, its a 90's movie.

If you're a fan of Looney Tunes or Basketball, this one is for you. If not, well, i probably let you guys stick to "The Bugs Bunny show" or any other show with shorts.

So, il rate this movie 8.5/10.

And btw, you're probably wondering about my small thoughts of "Looney Tunes back in action"?  Personally, i don't think its an interesting movie that could've been fun. So no, i don't think il watch it after looked at the trailer or even a small clip. Sorry Joe Dante.

So this ends of my review, if you have your opinion or any suggestions, let me know at the comments bellow.

And don't worry, maybe il coming back to do more review. So thanks for reading, and im Anthony, signing out.
